Each year, the beginning of the mourning period and Ashura is marked by a symbolic flag-raising. The red flag is replaced by the black one to mark the Prophet's household's mourning for Imam Hussain. This is repeated by the Imam Sadiq Center as a prelude to the Ashura period.

In addition to the flag raising, the programs in the Imam Sadiq Center will be as follows:
- Quran recitation and Ashura peace greeting: Abu Abbas Al-Rubaee and Sheikh Abu Jawad Al-Kaabi.
- Speak in Danish; Hussain Al-Bahrani.
- Speaking in Arabic; Sheikh Muhammad Al-Bahadli.
- Rhythmic mourning poetry/ Latmiya; guest poet Muhammad Al-Najafi from England, guest poetry reciter Mirza Muhammad Al-Khayat and Danish-Iraqi poet Ahmad Al-Karaawi.
The center offers talks in Danish and Arabic (Iraqi) as well as distribution of food from the Iraqi and Persian Ashura cuisine.
The Imam al-Sadiq Center adheres to the Iraqi traditions of mourning ceremonies from the city of Karbala, where Imam Hussain is buried.
- 1st night: Hoisting and honoring of the Imam Hussein cemetery flag (the change from red to black).
- 2nd, 3rd and 5th: The use of the traditional chain mourning ceremony (zinjiil).
- 7th night: Imitation Theater of Abal-fadl al-Abbas BC.
- 8th night: Qasim's (Imam Hassan's son) marriage theater with procession in Nørrebrogade.
- 9th night: The use of the traditional chain mourning ceremony (zinjiil).
- 10th night: Abdullah's (infant) impersonation theater.
